Message from the President
Welcome,
The 2013 school year at the Illinois Alpha-Omega chapter of Loyola University Chicago, was one full of many new opportunities presented to us. After being honored with the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Zeal award this past summer and the NIC award for "Chapter Excellence" the prior year, we were in a position that we had never found ourselves in before. We did not rest on our laurels, nor did we simply continue doing the same things we have done in the past. We were able to bring new and fresh ideas to innovate chapter functions on a different level that we could have never imagined. While this caused hardships along the way, we were able to persevere and experience an even stronger brotherhood displayed amongst our members.
In addition to building and furthering the progress of the future leaders of our chapter, Illinois Alpha-Omega has excelled in many other areas throughout this past year. Over the last year we have been able to add 27 quality new members that will one day lead our chapter to even greater and better things. Furthermore, this has also been a year where we have been able to leave an imprint on the University and the surrounding community. First, we held our 7th Annual St. Baldrick's Day event where over 100 students, faculty, and administration shaved their heads in front of more than 5,000 onlookers, beating our fundraising goal of $25,000 in one single night. Also, we have once again been able to utilize the Student Activities Fund provided by Loyola University. We appropriately allocated over $100,000 towards events such as "Date Nights" to popular Broadway shows and provide trips for the student body to various other Chicagoland attractions.
Through taking on new endeavors and perfecting old ones, we have been able to learn a tremendous amount about ourselves and our chapter. Illinois Alpha-Omega is a chapter that has constantly been excelling in a variety of areas for the past year. This past year we had the opportunity to try new things and learn a lot in doing so. The sky truly is the limit for men of ILAO, and we will not be afraid to build into a bigger and better group of True Gentlemen. We look forward to a great year this year! We will see you all around campus when we return on March 11, 2013 - enjoy the Spring Break with your family and friends.
Best Regards,
Patrick J Hannon
